Do you love reminiscing about your childhood? Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from our fast paced adult lives, and think back to a simpler time.
Like most kids, one of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was eat candy! Many of the candies that I enjoyed growing up are pretty hard to find these days. But there are a few spots in the area that are loaded with nostalgic candy.
When I’m on the hunt for some candy from my childhood, one of the first places in Portland that comes to mind is Old Port Candy Co. on Fore St. They’re store is packed with both nostalgic and contemporary candy, both packaged, and made by them. Oh, and their fudge is to die for!
Another great spot that has tons of nostalgic candy is Len Libby Candies. Located in Scarborough, just outside of Portland, you can find lots of sweet treats from your childhood in their store. It’s also home to the world’s only life-size chocolate moose!
And the next time you find yourself in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, you definitely need to check out Zeb’s General Store in North Conway. The store has grown from a 200 square foot space in 1991, to over 6,600 square feet, and they claim to have “the largest collection of New England made specialty foods in the world.”
